LICENSED?
WHAT IT TAKES
The term "CONTRACTOR" is not a generic term anymore; it's an earned and respected profession! Contractors are required to be licensed by the State of Florida.

The State of Florida requires contractors to be licensed;

In an effort to protect the health, safety and welfare of all Floridians the State of Florida requires all contractors to be licensed. Unfortunately, we have individuals out there who are practicing the trade without the license to do so. This allows community members to be victims of scams, fraud, theft, shoddy work, liability risk, etc.
What it takes to get a contractor's license;

Contractors have to take and pass a competency exam, demonstrate they have the necessary skills, complete a background screening and are required to maintain CEU'S to keep their license active.

It can take well over a year for a contractor to gather all the documentation to satisfy the licensing requirements.

In order to obtain permits they have to register with the local building departments. At registration they are required to provide a copy of their license, workers compensation coverage and liability insurance.

Why hire a licensed contractor vs. an unlicensed/fake contractor?
For the safety of your family, your neighbors and the value of your home.

To become a licensed contractor one must be competent, educated and
demonstrate expertise in their chosen field. Why would anyone take a chance and settle for anything less?
