STATE CONTRACTOR LICENSE
Certified vs. Registered
A State Certified Contractor can work anywhere within the State of Florida. Not to be confused with a State Registered Contractor who is restricted to the county the license is registered with.
LOCAL LICENSE
Most Local County
Contractor Licenses are restricted to only working in
the county were the license was issued. In addition, a
State Registered Contractors License is restricted to
the county the license is registered.
Not to be confused with an occupational tax (formally
license). Occupational tax is a tax not a license to do
any type of work.
To verify a local contractors license and a registered contractors license contract your building department. Make sure the contractor you hire can work in the county you reside in.
