Bathroom remodel w/o permit

This owner responded to an advertisement in the newspaper for a bathroom remodel. What the owner did not know is that the contractor was not licensed,
the bathroom tiles started to fall off the walls
did not used the approved materials, and told the owner that the work did not need a permit.

The contractor (who was called to fix the problem) advised that the owner suspected there may be a problem when the shower tiles began to fall off the wall and revealed a substantial amount of mold and rotting materials!

wrong materials were used and later caused the bathroom tiles to fall of the walls!
Had the owner not fallen for the bait from the unlicensed contractor the owner may have hired a qualified licensed contractor and the tiles just may still be on the wall-- where they belong!

Ac Installation w/o a permit

You don't need to be a genius to know that this ac unit installed in an attic would have never passed an inspection!

The owner knew something was wrong when massive water stains started to appear on the ceiling and the walls.

Electrical contractor admits he is unlicensed but he went to college!

bad electrical work
Yesterday I met a homeowner who had hired an unlicensed electrical contractor. When the electrical contractor was asked for his electrical contractor's license number he went silent. He then stated that he went to college and has a degree in electronics, but does not have a contractor's license.

As a result of the work that he did the owner now has code violations and has to hire a licensed electrical contractor to correct the work and make it safe, and obtain the required permits.
